Job Summary

The State of Delaware is seeking a skilled Certified Nursing Assistant to join our team at the Delaware Department of Health and Social Services. As a Certified Nursing Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our clients/patients/residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide mentoring and orientation to newly hired staff to ensure a smooth transition and completion of assignments.
  • Lead individual and group therapeutic processes, including reality orientation, sensory stimulation, range of motion exercises, and application of splints/braces.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary care teams to provide information about clients' overall physical condition, abilities, and behavioral characteristics.
  • Ensure aseptic integrity of feeding, catheter, and respiratory tubes/devices while assisting individuals with personal hygiene.
  • Monitor and record temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, and nutritional intake/output, and alert professional staff to significant physical/behavioral changes or irregularities.
  • Provide oral and written descriptions of clients' physical/behavioral changes.
  • Observe client/patient/resident activities, recording and reporting unusual or hazardous behavior, and conduct periodic rounds to ensure safety and well-being.
  • Escort individuals to social/recreational activities and medical appointments on/off campus.
  • Apply appropriate interventions to prevent or de-escalate inappropriate behaviors.
Requirements
  • Possession of a Delaware certification as a Nursing Assistant or eligibility for a Delaware certification.
Working Conditions

This position requires a high level of physical activity, including standing, walking, and lifting. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a calm demeanor in stressful situations is essential.
