Role Summary:

Under the guidance of school administration, the After School Care Lead is responsible for overseeing and facilitating engaging activities for children enrolled in the After School Care Program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement a daily program tailored to the unique needs and interests of each child, considering their individual learning styles and requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including attendance tracking and emergency procedures, to maintain a secure environment for all children.
  • Create and sustain an inviting and stimulating physical space conducive to learning and play.
  • Foster a supportive atmosphere that promotes self-esteem and encourages positive social interactions among children.
  • Establish and uphold standards of behavior in alignment with the school's policies.
  • Build and maintain constructive relationships with parents and guardians of the children.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by school leadership.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, along with experience working with youth in structured settings.
  • Understanding of children's developmental needs and behavior.
  • Knowledge of school policies and regulations.
  • Exemplify and promote core values and ethics.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with students and staff.
  • Ensure the health, safety, and emotional well-being of children.
  • Guide children in their daily activities and homework.

Physical Requirements:

To effectively meet the needs of the children, the individual in this role must:

  • Be able to stand for extended periods while engaging with students.
  • Occasionally sit to plan activities or complete administrative tasks.
  • Navigate through various classroom layouts and environments.
  • Engage with children at their level, which may involve kneeling or bending.
  • Reach for materials and assist in rearranging classroom setups.
  • Occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
