About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team in the Boston MetroWest area. As a key member of our Hardware-Mechanical Engineering team, you will be responsible for developing innovative solutions that push the boundaries of electromechanical and design integration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and validate sub-systems and components to meet program schedule and requirements
  • Provide technical leadership and expertise in mechanical design, analysis, and testing
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive key aspects of technology solution definition, execution, and validation
  • Manage technical relationships with vendors and partners to deliver new components to required specification and schedule
A Day in the Life

As a Mechanical Engineer on our team, you will spend your days designing system architectures and components, creating proofs of concept, and preparing for prototype build cycles or tooling/component releases. You will also spend time in the lab building and testing prototypes, leading investigations into issues, and providing leadership to the team in meetings and hallway conversations.

About the Team

Our HW-ME team is a diverse group of experienced engineers with a mix of different backgrounds and expertise. We pride ourselves on being able to work on any challenge, across different system functions and incorporating different engineering disciplines. We also develop specific subject matter expertise, mutually agreed upon within the team, to grow our own and the team's breadth and depth.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (or similar field) and 8+ years of experience in the consumer or industrial electronics industry as a mechanical design engineer
  • Experience with design tools including Solidworks and/or ProE/Creo
  • Experience with FEA, DFMEA, and statistical analysis tools
  • Experience with thermal analysis, product validation, and materials process validation
  • Prior experience with delivering products into mass production
  • Experience in engaging, working with, and managing vendors and suppliers to deliver in fast-paced technical environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • MS in mechanical engineering
  • Analytical and methodological root cause analysis and troubleshooting skills including DOE and 8D
  • System design interfacing to a wide array of electro-mechanical and opto-mechanical sub-systems
  • Experience designing with plastic injection molding and tooling, aluminum castings & sheet metal parts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to executives and non-technical leaders
  • Prior experience with weight sensing, load cells, strain gauges is a strong plus
