Job Summary

The Department of Chemistry at InsideHigherEd invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position in Physical Organic Chemistry. This is a temporary one-year position with the possibility of renewal for a second year, subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funds.

Qualifications

We welcome applications from candidates with research interests in experimental and theoretical physical organic chemistry. Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in organic synthesis, computational chemistry, spectroscopy, photochemistry, and mechanistic studies. Experience with time-resolved laser flash photolysis methods is desirable.

Teaching Opportunities

The successful candidate may have an opportunity to teach up to one undergraduate course per semester (with or without a laboratory component) selected from: Introductory General Chemistry, Introductory Organic Chemistry, Advanced Organic Chemistry, and/or a January term course on a mutually acceptable topic.

Working Conditions

The position involves working in a general open office, laboratory, and campus environment. Position requires sitting, although frequent movement is necessary. Working with photochemical equipment, and pyrophoric reagents such as alkyllithiums, Grignards, etc. may be required. Computer usage involving repetitive hand/wrist motion is also necessary.
