Unit Overview

On Unit 2E, dedicated nurses provide exceptional care for patients facing intricate medical challenges, including stroke recovery, organ transplants, and heart failure management, as well as post-operative care for cardiac and orthopedic cases. This 40-bed facility offers unique opportunities to support patients with specialized needs, such as those requiring tracheostomies, peritoneal dialysis, and mechanical circulatory assistance.

Rehabilitation Focus

Our approach to cardiac and stroke rehabilitation encompasses comprehensive physical, occupational, and speech therapies, along with emotional and psychological support, to empower patients in achieving their highest levels of mobility and cognitive function. As a rehabilitation nurse on 2 East, you will work closely with an interdisciplinary team to develop tailored care plans and foster a nurturing environment that encourages patients to embrace their lifestyle transitions.

Key Responsibilities

The rehabilitation clinical nurse plays a vital role within the interdisciplinary team, delivering patient-focused rehabilitation nursing services to individuals with disabilities and chronic illnesses, aimed at achieving and sustaining optimal functionality. This role involves assisting patients in adjusting to new lifestyles while creating a therapeutic atmosphere conducive to both patient and family growth. The rehabilitation clinical nurse formulates and executes treatment plans grounded in scientific nursing principles related to self-care, promoting physical, psychosocial, and spiritual well-being. In this capacity, rehabilitation nurses serve as educators, caregivers, collaborators, and advocates for clients, enhancing the quality of life for those in their care.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing with an ADN, BSN, MSN, or CNL is required. If you hold an associate degree in nursing, enrollment in a BSN program within six months of hire is mandatory, with completion expected within three years.
  • Previous clinical nursing experience is preferred.
  • An active DC RN License and Basic Life Support certification for Healthcare providers are required.
