Job Title: Electronic Data Interchange Specialist

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled EDI Specialist to support, develop, and implement EDI transactions across multiple systems and platforms. This role will focus on ensuring seamless, accurate, and secure data exchanges between our organization and our trading partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain EDI systems and interfaces with trading partners.
  • Set up new EDI trading partners, including mapping and translation for various EDI transaction sets (e.g., 810, 850, 856, 997).
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve EDI transmission issues in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (IT, Supply Chain, Accounting) and external partners to ensure accurate data flow.
  • Maintain and update EDI standards, processes, and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., ANSI X12, EDIFACT) and company policies.
  • Analyze current EDI processes and recommend improvements or efficiencies.
  • Provide technical support for EDI-related issues and coordinate resolutions with trading partners.
  • Work closely with third-party vendors, VAN providers, and internal IT teams for EDI system integrations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2+ years of experience working with EDI systems, EDI mapping, and transaction sets (e.g., 810, 850, 856, 997).
  • Strong understanding of EDI standards such as ANSI X12, EDIFACT, and XML.
  • Experience with EDI translation software, such as Gentran, Sterling Integrator, or BizTalk.
  • Knowledge of EDI protocols (e.g., AS2, FTP/SFTP, VAN).
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or JD Edwards) and their EDI integration.
  • Problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to troubleshoot data transmission issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with both technical and business teams.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with API integration.
  • Knowledge of EDI compliance in industries such as retail, healthcare, or logistics.
  • Experience with SQL queries or other database systems for data extraction and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of supply chain processes and systems.
