Transportation Specialist for Adults with Developmental Disabilities

Job Summary: Richland Newhope RCBDD is seeking a dedicated Transportation Specialist to support adults with developmental disabilities during bus transportation. This role ensures the health, safety, and welfare of passengers while maintaining a clean and safe bus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Bus Maintenance: Ensure the bus remains in good working condition, performing regular checks and addressing any issues promptly.
  • Route Optimization: Determine efficient routes to ensure timely arrivals and departures, minimizing delays and stress for passengers.
  • Passenger Security: Properly secure individuals, including those using wheelchairs, ensuring their safety during transit.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate transportation records, documenting routes, passenger information, and any incidents or issues that arise.
  • Emergency Response: Respond promptly and effectively in emergency situations, prioritizing the well-being of passengers and staff.

Requirements:

  • Education and Certifications: Hold a secondary education or equivalent and possess an Ohio Commercial Driver's License class B or greater with Air Brake and Passenger endorsements.
  • Physical Demands: Meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting minimum 50 lbs, sitting for long periods, and engaging in frequent stooping, squatting, lifting, carrying, pushing, and climbing.
  • Schedule Flexibility: Be prepared to work a flexible schedule, including varied hours and possible overtime.

Certifications and Benefits:

  • Certifications: Possess First Aid and CPR certifications and meet T-8 physical standards or greater.
