Position Overview

The Sanitation Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all activities related to the cleaning and sanitization of the facility and on-site equipment at the refinery. This role requires a commitment to safety and responsibility while collaborating with other department managers to establish defined cleaning frequencies, training protocols, and verification activities to ensure the effectiveness of the sanitation program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and execute the cleaning of equipment and work areas.
  • Manage both cleaning contractors and facility cleaning staff.
  • Inspect premises for unsanitary practices and conditions, compiling reports on inspections, sanitation violations, and corrective actions taken.
  • Oversee the sanitation preventive maintenance program.
  • Review and enhance the Plant Sanitation Program, collaborating with cleaning and sanitation chemical suppliers to identify optimal cleaning agents and methods.
  • Complete all associated documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Conduct investigations and root cause analyses on customer complaints and quality issues related to sanitation.
  • Collaborate with management, Quality Assurance, Safety, and production teams to address sanitation challenges and recommend improvements in equipment, plant layout, lighting, ventilation, or work practices.
  • Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Experience

  • Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Trustworthy with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, capable of working independently and as part of various teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and relevant workplace software.
  • Effective in engaging with individuals at all organizational levels.
  • Two to four years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the food industry.
  • A minimum of five years of demonstrated success in supervising employees, including training, coaching, and team development.

Required Education

A Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution or equivalent experience is required.

Management Responsibilities

  • Responsible for training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, and addressing employee concerns.
  • Coordinate company cleaning schedule activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all claims and site food safety programs, including Gluten Free, Kosher, Organic, and Allergen programs.
  • Adhere to Labor Contract guidelines and report any potential violations.
  • Initiate disciplinary actions as necessary according to the Labor Contract.
  • Assess hourly employee performance and identify training needs.
  • Enhance employee utilization and performance.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and decision-making abilities.
  • Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Identify and resolve issues promptly.
  • Adapt to frequent changes and unexpected events while maintaining composure.
  • Follow established policies and procedures, utilizing equipment and materials appropriately.
  • Observe safety and security protocols, reporting any unsafe conditions.
  • Demonstrate thoroughness and accuracy in completing work in a timely manner.

Location

Position based at the Yonker, NY Refinery.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $102,500 to $190,500, depending on qualifications and prior experience.
