Fire Sprinkler System Designer

We are seeking a skilled Fire Sprinkler Designer to join our team at Impact Fire Services. As a Fire Sprinkler Designer, you will be responsible for designing and developing fire sprinkler systems using CAD equipment and software. Your primary focus will be on providing support to our Engineering department by preparing routine layouts of fire sprinkler systems, detail drawings, assembly drawings, sketches, and diagrams.
Key Responsibilities:- Design fire protection sprinkler systems with accuracy and detail to enable field installation with minimal design errors.
- Review work orders and procedural manuals to determine critical dimensions of design and design fire protection sprinkler systems within allocated hours for each job.
- Calculate figures to convert design dimensions to resizing dimensions specified for subsequent production, layout, and installation processes.
- Submit design plans to proper department leadership for approval and obtain permits as required.
- Confer with engineering and design staff to determine design modifications and enter editing information into computer.
- Key in specified information to produce graphic representation (hard copy) of design for review and approval by engineering and design staff.
- Make final sketch of proposed drawing, checking dimension of parts, materials to be used, relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to whole structure or project.
- Revise size, shape, and arrangement of parts to create practical design drawings.
- Sketch rough layout of system and compute angles, weights, surface areas, dimensions, radii, clearances, tolerances, leverages, and location of holes.
- Draft detailed multi-view drawings of layout and systems.
- NICET level II or higher, Fire Protection Industry licensing or equivalent.
- Experience in the fire protection design field required.
- Solid understanding of drafting techniques and familiarity with design and fire sprinkler terminology.
- Ability to read blueprints for fire sprinkler layout.
- Ability to make technical presentation internally and to customers.
- Must have a sound working knowledge of NFPA 13 and related codes.
- Experience with AutoCAD and AutoSprink, HydraCAD, or SprinkCAD.
- The ability to learn applicable installation, inspection, and servicing codes.
- Applicable experience either in the fire protection industry or the commercial customer service business in some capacity.
- An ability to provide services across multiple product lines.
- Working habits and personal appearance which are both neat and well organized.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
