Overview: The Vocational Nursing Specialist operates under the direct oversight of the Clinical Director. This role involves providing nursing care to patients across all age groups, from pediatric to geriatric, within the LVN's scope of practice.
  • Evaluate and assess patients' understanding of their health conditions and treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff to enhance clinic workflow.
  • Serve as a liaison between providers and patients in the dispensary.
  • Engage in basic assessments, data collection, and participate in planning and executing interventions alongside healthcare providers as outlined in treatment plans.
  • Document patient care in compliance with SCFHC policies.
  • Guide and delegate patient care tasks to Medical Assistants as instructed by the RN.
  • Act as a resource for resolving concerns from patients, families, and physicians.
  • Contact patients regarding specific treatments and laboratory orders as directed by the provider.
  • Deliver preventive health education and guidance on insulin management and dietary control.
  • Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality to ensure quality patient care and effective interaction.
  • Utilize relevant software applications and technologies to support services and fulfill administrative responsibilities.
  • Prepare and review schedules and expectations with the team.
Qualifications and Certifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Completion of an LVN training program is mandatory.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience as an LVN is preferred.
  • Current California LVN license is required.
  • CPR / BLS Certification is necessary.
  • Knowledge of safety, infection control, and emergency protocols is essential.
