As a Hospice Aide/ Certified Nursing Assistant, your responsibilities will include:


Reporting directly to the Administrator, Executive Director, or Patient Care Manager Senior and operating under the guidance of the Registered Nurse and/or Clinical Supervisor.

Assisting patients in maintaining personal hygiene.

Helping to ensure a safe and healthy living environment.

Preparing and serving light meals.

Assisting with feeding when necessary.

Supporting patients in ambulation.

Facilitating the safe use of walkers or wheelchairs as instructed and supervised by the nurse.

Performing light housekeeping tasks such as emptying trash and changing linens.

Assisting with specific treatments as outlined in the aide plan of care and as permitted by state regulations.

Encouraging patients' mental engagement through activities of interest.

Providing basic emotional and psychological support to patients and their families.


Reporting any changes in the patient's mental or physical condition or home environment to the Registered Nurse and interdisciplinary team members.

Demonstrating basic care to the primary caregiver.

Implementing infection control measures and standard precautions.

Maintaining accurate documentation of visit itineraries

Participating in staff meetings.

Engaging in at least one Quality Improvement activity annually, as assigned by the supervisor.

Completing documentation promptly as outlined in orientation.

Candidate Profile:

Hospice Aide/ CNA Qualifications:

Compassionate Heart:
Empathetic, kind, and understanding towards patients and their families.

Comfortable providing care in various settings.

Exhibiting flexibility and calmness while assisting others during challenging times.

Possessing a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.

Having six (6) months of patient care experience in hospice, home health, ICU, geriatric, or oncology preferred.


Additional preferred experience that may enhance your success in a hospice role includes: hospital Staff RN, Med Surg, PACU, Float pool, ER or emergency room, critical care, acute care, cardiac, geriatric, admissions, wound care, telemetry, nursing home, or travel.

Current driver's license and automobile insurance.

Current CPR certification
