The Assistant Coach plays an integral role in supporting the Head Coach for the swimming program at Messiah University. This position involves assisting in the management of a program designed for student-athletes with diverse skill levels, in alignment with our collective goals in Athletics to achieve excellence in sports performance while nurturing the development of strong Christian values.

Essential Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline

Desirable Qualifications: Master's degree

Experience Required:

  • At least 1 year of coaching experience
  • Preferred 1 year of coaching experience in a collegiate setting along with a competitive playing background
Necessary Skills and Attributes:
  • Ability to coach, instruct, and develop student-athletes in sport-specific techniques and strategies
  • Proven understanding of the developmental stages of students and the importance of a holistic educational approach
  • Capable of establishing meaningful mentoring relationships with students
  • Strong collaborator with excellent communication abilities
  • Skilled in using various computer applications and systems
Work Environment: Availability for work during weekends and evenings as required
Driving Qualifications: Must possess MU Approved Driver status
Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate performance and coach athletes in skills, techniques, and strategies for competitions
  • Comply with all regulations set forth by Messiah University, the Middle Atlantic Conference, and the NCAA
  • Ensure consistent and punctual attendance
