Job Overview

Wabanaki Public Health & Wellness, a non-profit organization serving four federally recognized tribes in Maine, seeks a skilled Accountant Specialist to join its team. As an essential member of the accounting department, you will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity and efficiency of our financial systems.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure accurate management of financial transactions, disbursement, and receipting of federal funds.
  • Support the preparation of financial statements, estimates, summaries, and other analytical reports.
  • Conduct month-end and year-end closing procedures, reconcile bank statements, and review outstanding checks.
  • Prepare data for the annual audit and maintain compliance with GAAP and MAAP regulations.
  • Maintain company credit cards and records, as well as event accounting records.
Requirements
  • A minimum of three years of combined higher-level education and/or experience in accounting, auditing, budgeting, financial planning, and analysis, or related fields.
  • Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • The ability to maintain processes according to federal and state regulations.
  • Capability of producing various financial reports from interpreting and analyzing data.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy, with excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to problem-solve and analyze information, with exceptional customer service skills.
  • Able to maintain high levels of confidentiality, with good verbal and written communication skills.
Compensation

We offer a competitive salary of $65,000 - $80,000 per annum, commensurate with experience, along with opportunities for growth and professional development.
