This role is essential in delivering exceptional customer service and compassion to our patients. The ideal candidate will embrace the responsibilities outlined in this description to foster a welcoming and supportive environment that prioritizes patient care. Maintaining patient confidentiality is paramount, and collaboration with our medical staff is crucial for ensuring a smooth workflow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Duties:
Demonstrates outstanding communication and coordination within the Care Team. Prepares patients for examinations, treatments, and procedures while obtaining vital signs, verifying insurance details, and confirming patient demographics. Assists the physician in patient care by adhering to Evidence-Based Guidelines and established protocols. - Maintains an efficient patient flow by guiding patients to examination rooms, informing them of any delays, and making appointment reminder calls.
- Documents patient information including chief complaints, medical history, and reconciles medications accurately.
- Observes and reports on patient conditions and responses to treatments, administering vaccines and medications as directed.
- Conducts various tests such as blood draws, spirometry, EKGs, and vision assessments.
- Handles specimen processing and scheduling of patient appointments, generating referrals and managing prescription calls.
- Ensures a clean and organized waiting area and assists with telephone inquiries, documenting messages accurately.
- Proactively supports the Care Team in addressing patient needs and prepares necessary supplies and equipment.
- Provides clear verbal and written instructions to patients, ensuring understanding of care protocols.
- Follows up on referrals, tests, and treatments, maintaining proper documentation and compliance with policies.
- Participates in quality improvement initiatives and performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Must possess a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant in a family practice or pediatric setting. Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records is essential. Effective communication skills with patients and colleagues are required, along with a strong commitment to confidentiality.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform essential job functions, including normal physical mobility and strength to manage routine office tasks. Exposure to communicable diseases and body fluids is expected.
