Job Overview
We are seeking a meticulous and skilled Equipment Service Technician to become a vital part of our team at RPG. This essential role demands an individual with extensive knowledge and practical experience in servicing a variety of machinery, including aerial work platforms, heavy-duty and light-duty vehicles, as well as construction equipment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting comprehensive evaluations, diagnosing complex mechanical problems, and expertly executing repairs and enhancements on the equipment we lease, sell, and provide to our valued clients.
Key Responsibilities
Engage in thorough evaluations to accurately inspect, diagnose, and execute repairs or replacements of worn or damaged components for diverse utility equipment manufacturers. This is crucial for maintaining quality standards while efficiently managing resources and costs. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Operate and assess machinery or heavy equipment to identify defects.
- Adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Utilize diagnostic tools such as pressure gauges and flow test equipment to determine necessary repairs.
- Reconstruct gearboxes and boom lift cylinders to meet quality standards without rework.
- Conduct initial inspections and diagnostics, ensuring accurate parts requisition.
- Dismantle and reassemble heavy machinery using hoists and hand tools as required.
- Perform hose replacements and testing with precision to avoid rework.
- Test mechanical products and equipment post-repair to confirm compliance with manufacturer specifications.
- Conduct routine maintenance and lubrication on vehicles and equipment.
- Inspect and adjust safety devices and protective guards to ensure compliance with organizational standards.
- Interpret operating manuals, blueprints, and technical schematics.
- Utilize hydraulic jacks or hoists to elevate vehicles and heavy components for inspection and repair.
- Maintain accurate records of parts, services, and labor to ensure proper vehicle pricing and quality assurance.
- Submit work orders for supervisor approval to maintain budget integrity and accurately reflect repair costs.
- Perform additional duties as assigned in a professional manner.
- Adhere to best practices for a safe working environment.
- Participate in monthly safety meetings.
- Valid driver's license.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Possession of personal tools.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test, physical examination, and audiogram.
- General mechanical aptitude with experience in parts management; knowledge of hydraulics, heavy machinery, diesel vehicles, and agricultural equipment is advantageous.
- Proficiency in standard computer software (MS Office Suite, internet, etc.) for accurate record-keeping.
