Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at New York Oncology & Hematology. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our clinical team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms
  • Obtain and record patient data, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes
  • Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as needed
  • Assist physicians with exams and procedures as requested
  • Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, as delegated by RN or physician
  • Maintain exam/treatment room disinfection protocols
  • Answer patient telephone calls and provide referral information
  • Phone in prescriptions and make other patient calls as directed by physicians and RN
  • Inform physicians of patient reschedules and no-shows
  • Perform other administrative duties, such as typing, filing, faxing, and chart preparation
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants preferred
  • 1-3 years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant
  • Current BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire
  • Certified Medical Assistant preferred
Work Environment

The work environment at New York Oncology & Hematology is fast-paced and dynamic. As a Medical Assistant, you will be exposed to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations, and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment.
