Position Overview: The Budget and Contract Accountant is responsible for preparing program budgets, invoicing clients, drafting contract documentation, and assisting the Director of Finance and the Vice President & CFO with technical accounting, financial management, and reporting obligations of the organization.

Compensation: Starting salary is $72K, contingent upon experience and educational background.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage billing, record-keeping, and the collection and application of payments related to contracts and accounts receivable.
  • Assist in the preparation of accounting transactions, including voucher allocations, deposits, cash receipts, one-time journal entries, and invoice generation.
  • Provide backup support for various accounting and financial reporting functions, such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial closings.
  • Prepare specialized program cost reports and develop program budgets.
  • Conduct financial analyses and provide technical guidance on accounting, finance, and budgeting issues to management and program development teams.
  • Oversee and facilitate the contracting process for designated funding sources.
  • Assist in the preparation for external audits mandated by contracts and regulatory agencies.

Candidate Profile:

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform each essential duty effectively. The following qualifications are essential:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant accounting experience and/or training.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and general computer skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Capability to work effectively with a diverse population.

Work Environment: The organization currently offers a hybrid work model, requiring employees to work on-site three days a week, with the option to work remotely for up to two days.
