Join Our Team as a Critical Care Veterinary Technician
DoveLewis Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Hospital is on the lookout for dedicated and skilled Veterinary Technicians to enhance our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team. We are currently seeking full-time Certified or Licensed Veterinary Technicians for Swing and Overnight shifts.
Your Role:
As a Critical Care Veterinary Technician, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional service to our clients while providing urgent nursing care to our patients. Your daily responsibilities will include:
- Calculating and administering medical dosages and medications.
- Conducting in-house laboratory tests.
- Placing tubes and catheters.
- Monitoring anesthesia for critical care patients.
- Ensuring the comfort of our patients.
- Updating clients on their pets' health status.
This position demands strong technical abilities and a profound respect for all animals, as well as an understanding of the human-animal bond.
Compensation:
The hourly wage ranges from $28 to $36, with additional differentials for overnight and weekend shifts. Further pay considerations are available for those with VTS (ECC) or other relevant specialty credentials.
Work Schedule:
ICU technicians operate on a rotating schedule of 3/4 with 10-hour shifts, allowing for a balanced work-life schedule with 3 or 4 consecutive days off each week. We encourage you to discuss any specific scheduling needs you may have.
Candidate Profile:
We are looking for lifelong learners who thrive on new challenges and actively contribute to our teaching hospital environment. Ideal candidates will possess:
- A commitment to delivering the highest standard of care in a client-centered setting.
- The ability to remain calm and efficient in high-pressure situations.
- A minimum of two years of experience in the veterinary field as a technician or assistant.
- At least one year of experience in emergency or specialty small animal care.
- Current certification as a Veterinary Technician in Oregon or the ability to transfer a license from another state.
- A high school diploma or equivalent; other combinations of experience and education may be considered.
