Job Summary:

DoveLewis Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Hospital is seeking a skilled Veterinary ICU Specialist to join our team in the ICU department. As a critical care veterinary technician, you will be responsible for providing emergency nursing care to patients, calculating medical dosages, and administering medications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide emergency nursing care to patients, including vital sign monitoring and life support systems management
  • Calculate and administer medications, including intravenous fluids and anesthetics
  • Run in-house lab work, including blood gas analysis and electrolyte monitoring
  • Place tubes and catheters, including endotracheal tubes and central lines
  • Monitor critical care anesthesia and ensure patients' comfort and safety
  • Update clients on their pet's progress and provide education on post-operative care
  • Perform a variety of other tasks requiring solid technical skills, including phlebotomy and radiology

Requirements:

  • Minimum of two years working in the veterinary field, with a focus on emergency or critical care
  • Current status as a Certified, Licensed, or Registered Veterinary Technician
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations with compassion and efficiency
  • Commitment to high standards of care and a genuine love and respect for animals
