**Job Summary**
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team at UNC Health Care. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for assisting the Executive Chef in all areas of production, ensuring that recipes are followed, and maintaining a safe and healthy environment for patients and staff.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment for patients and staff by adhering to health and sanitation codes.
- Assist the Executive Chef in menu planning, recipe development, and food preparation.
- Lead the kitchen team in the absence of the Executive Chef.
- Monitor ticket times, preparation of food, and ensure that all food is prepared to the highest standards.
- Enforce department and hospital policies, including food safety and sanitation procedures.
- Train and develop kitchen staff in food preparation, safe handling, and operation of equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of production, waste, and inventory.
- Conduct self-audits to ensure that kitchen standards are being met.
**Requirements**
- AOS in Culinary Arts or ACF certification.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in high-volume operations, with experience in scratch cooking and ability to function in a fast-paced kitchen.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
