Job Description

ARK Systems is seeking a skilled Low Voltage System Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in estimating fire alarm systems and possess a strong understanding of local and national electrical and fire codes.

The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately interpreting detailed plans and specifications, and then using this information to calculate the costs, time, and materials required to complete the project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Price labor and materials for fire alarm systems based on customer design requirements, specifications, drawings, and building codes.
  • Take-offs from drawings and prints to determine the number and types of devices that are going to be used, incorporate them into an actual system, and put together proposals for the customer.
  • Maintain and archive proposals and bids for future actions.
  • Maintain computer programs with current pricing and new products.
  • Attend site surveys with the sales department to determine what is necessary to sell and install a job.
  • Fill out material requisition forms.
  • Assist the sales department on technical and installation issues.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent supplemented with 3 years of electric/electronic training.
  • 2-5 years experience in estimating Life Safety Systems.
  • Previous experience in construction accounting is preferred, but not required.
  • Installation experience and prior construction experience are a plus.
  • Competent computer skills to perform essential functions listed above including Microsoft Office, Access, and other required third-party software.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
