Plasma Processing Specialist

CSL Plasma is seeking a skilled Plasma Processing Technician to join our team. As a key member of our plasma collection team, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely sampling, testing, shipping, and storage of plasma collected from donors.
Key Responsibilities- Collect plasma samples and move plasma units to freezer to ensure product quality.
- Ensure plasma units are properly stored according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), which may include unsuitable plasma units and samples.
- Verify the accuracy of unit labeling by matching the pre-printed label with the dynamic label.
- Utilize sterile technique to draw samples and use a heat sealer to ensure the sterility and quality of plasma unit samples per SOPs.
- Pack and ship samples and units in accordance with SOPs and center procedures, preparing shipping and unit disposal documentation as needed.
- Monitor freezer and refrigerator temperatures and notify appropriate personnel if equipment is not functioning properly, recording any variances.
- Conduct daily calibration of equipment according to SOPs.
- Accurately record donor data in the electronic donor information management system as outlined in SOPs.
- Understand policies and procedures associated with hyper-immune programs at the center, if applicable.
- Maintain a clean and efficient work environment, ensuring sufficient operating supplies and forms are available as needed.
- Follow all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and procedures, promoting safety in all actions.
- Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
- May be cross-trained in other areas to meet business needs.
- May be required to work overtime and extended hours to support center operational needs.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of three (3) months experience in a laboratory or warehouse environment preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations.
- Ability to understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions.
- Ability to understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines.
- Ability to see and speak with customers and observe equipment operation.
Occasionally perform tasks while standing and walking up to 100% of the time. Reach, bend, kneel, and have a high level of manual dexterity. Occasionally required to lift and carry up to 25 pounds. Fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. Frequently exposed to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and blood-borne pathogens. Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment while performing specific tasks or in certain areas.
