Associate Professor of Gerontology

We are seeking a highly qualified Associate Professor to join our team at the University of California, San Diego. The successful candidate will have a strong background in Gerontology and/or Geroscience, with a proven track record of research excellence.
About the PositionThe Division of Geriatrics, Gerontology, and Palliative Care at the University of California, San Diego, Department of Medicine is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. We are actively recruiting academic faculty positions in Geriatrics and Palliative Care, with a focus on Geroscience.
ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be expected to establish a vigorous program of high-quality externally funded research, with a focus on understanding biological mechanisms of aging to develop strategies that can delay the onset of multiple, rather than individual, age-related chronic diseases and conditions. Specific focus areas include, but are not limited to: multi-omics, bioinformatics, epigenetics, and biodemography.
RequirementsCandidates must have a PhD or MD/PhD with an emphasis relevant to Gerontology and/or Geroscience. At least two years of postdoctoral experience in Geroscience is required, with a track record of research excellence. Preferred qualifications include experience in collaborative geroscience research focused on older adults, creating, participating in, and/or contributing to equity and inclusion programs, and establishing clinical studies and utilizing biorepositories and clinical data.
