Associate Professor of Health Equity

We are seeking an exceptional Associate Professor of Health Equity to join our faculty at the University of California, San Diego. The successful candidate will have a strong research focus on African American communities and the Black Diaspora, with a proven track record of advancing health equity and justice.
The Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health and Human Longevity Science at UC San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. We invite applications for a faculty position in Health Equity, with a research focus on African American communities and the Black Diaspora.
The successful candidate will be expected to design and teach an undergraduate course that aligns with the Black Diaspora and African American Studies program, conduct research focused on African American communities and the Black Diaspora, and demonstrate an inclusive stance on mentoring and advising that incorporates working with women and underrepresented racial minority undergraduate and graduate students.
The selected candidate will be responsible for research, teaching, and service, commensurate with the series of appointment and rank. The series will be 1.0 FTE Ladder Rank (Tenured).

QualificationsCandidates must have a PhD, DrPh, or related doctoral degree, demonstrated experience in teaching undergraduate or graduate courses in public health disciplines, research experience related to factors of race/ethnicity and health, and current extramural funding, strong publications appropriate for the Associate rank level of appointment, and research and publication independence.
Preferred qualifications include previous experiences teaching, mentoring, and supporting the advancement of underrepresented racial minority students, a record of service activities that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, and whose research, teaching, and service advance anti-racism, anti-oppression, equity, and justice in Public Health.
