We are seeking a highly qualified individual to join our team as an Associate Professor in the Division of Geriatrics, Gerontology, and Palliative Care at the University of California, San Diego. The successful candidate will have a strong background in Geroscience and a proven track record of research excellence.
About the PositionThis is a tenured faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor, with a focus on Geroscience. The successful candidate will be expected to establish a vigorous program of high-quality externally funded research, with a focus on understanding biological mechanisms of aging to develop strategies that can delay the onset of multiple, rather than individual, age-related chronic diseases and conditions.
Responsibilities- Establish a high-quality, extramurally funded research program in Geroscience
- Provide service to the University and broader academic community at a level commensurate with their career stage
- Contribute to a collegial and collaborative academic environment with a focus on the promotion of justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion
- PhD or MD/PhD with an emphasis relevant to Gerontology and/or Geroscience
- At least two years of postdoctoral experience in Geroscience and a track record of research excellence
- Experience in collaborative geroscience research focused on older adults
- Experience creating, participating in, and/or contributing to equity and inclusion programs that increase access and success of underrepresented students and faculty in the sciences
