Human Resources Generalist

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas is seeking a highly skilled Employee Relations Specialist to join its Office of Human Resources. As a key member of the team, this individual will provide consultation and guidance to employees and managers to promote effective working relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert advice and support to employees and managers on federal, state, and university HR regulations, policies, procedures, and practices.
- Partner with management to mediate and resolve conflicts or issues, providing guidance on employee development and performance management.
- Develop and maintain templates and documents related to employee relations, including performance management and behavior concerns.
- Assist management with the development of documents used to address performance management and behavior concerns.
- Provide advice and counsel on the annual evaluation process, including assisting managers with development plans and advising on time sensitivity.
- Partner with management to conduct internal investigations regarding employee relations issues, including discrimination complaints.
- Review survey data to identify successes, challenges, and opportunities for improvement, sharing data with leadership and making recommendations for improvement.
- Facilitate and participate in various employee relations training as assigned, reviewing and recommending targeted training to address employee or department concerns.
- Maintain ER files, database workflow, and metrics for reporting, ensuring accuracy, effectiveness, and efficiency.
- Prepare unemployment reports and responses, representing the university at hearings.
- Oversee and coordinate employee records requests.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university and 1-year comparable experience, or an associate's degree and three years' comparable experience, or a high school diploma/GED and five years' comparable experience.
- Working knowledge and understanding of policy and procedures related to employment, including complaints, grievances, performance management, and evaluations.
- Ability to organize and work independently and as part of a team, exercising independent and good judgment, sound decision making, and complex critical thinking skills.
- Effective and excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to analyze and evaluate complex issues and develop creative, responsive solutions.
- Working knowledge of relevant laws and regulations, including the Nevada Administrative Code.
