About the Role

Bigbelly is seeking a highly skilled Staff Accountant to join our finance team. As a Staff Accountant, you will play a critical role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our financial records.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general cost accounting and other related duties to ensure the organization's financial health.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements to provide a clear picture of our financial performance.
  • Maintain the general ledger to ensure accurate and up-to-date financial information.
  • Reconcile cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts to ensure accuracy and prevent errors.
  • Manage accounts receivable collections to ensure timely payment from customers.
  • Provide assistance to outside auditors to ensure a smooth audit process.
  • File tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies to ensure compliance with tax regulations.
  • Coordinate with software vendors to maintain and update our accounting software systems.
  • Maintain knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure accuracy and efficiency in financial tasks.
  • Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting principles to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Ability to correctly prepare tax reports to ensure compliance with tax regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software to ensure efficient financial tasks.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required.
  • At least three years of related experience required.
