Flour Bakery + Cafe/Myers + Chang is seeking a skilled Facilities Technician to ensure the seamless operation of our restaurant and bakery locations. This position will be stationed at the Facilities Office in Boston and will report directly to the Facilities Director.


The Facilities Technician is a knowledgeable tradesperson with a keen interest in identifying effective solutions for maintaining, repairing, and preventing issues within our facilities at both Flour and Myers + Chang.


Daily responsibilities will involve traveling between various sites to perform essential maintenance, equipment repairs, and aesthetic enhancements. Tasks may include carpentry, painting, electrical work, basic plumbing, and general upkeep of our spaces. The ideal candidate must be adept at managing the pressures of unexpected challenges while also maintaining focus on routine maintenance tasks.


A typical workday may involve a range of activities, from minor repairs and plumbing tasks to drywall restoration and painting. Responsibilities may also include relocating equipment, collaborating with management on larger repair projects, setting up or dismantling seasonal outdoor furniture, or addressing location-specific maintenance checklists.


Occasionally, this role may require hanging artwork or installing new equipment, such as ice machines, in collaboration with the Facilities Team. A strong mechanical aptitude is essential.


This is a full-time position eligible for benefits, with occasional early morning or late evening hours. A company vehicle will be provided.


Qualifications:

  • Valid MA Driver's License
  • Willingness to work early morning hours (5am) or late evening hours (7pm+)
  • Availability for weekend emergency coverage on a bi-weekly basis
  • Ability to assist in moving large equipment with the facilities team
  • Proficient understanding of plumbing fixtures and drainage systems
  • Expertise in drywall installation and painting techniques
  • Familiarity with digital work order systems for task prioritization
  • Possession of basic hand tools for general trades
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in trades including Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical, Tile Work, Painting, and Basic Remodeling
  • Comfortable using basic power tools such as drills and saws
  • Able to work safely on ladders up to 16 feet
  • Willingness to learn about light refrigeration equipment repair
  • Strong communication skills for conveying task-related information
  • Good organizational skills and efficiency in managing tools and materials
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs or more with assistance and perform physical tasks
  • Professional demeanor and courteous attitude
