Job Overview

The Field Service Engineer is responsible for managing all resources and logistics necessary to conduct maintenance and service activities at client locations. These tasks are essential for the upkeep, repair, and refurbishment of both sold and existing products. The role encompasses various types of maintenance services, including preventive and corrective actions, as well as overseeing maintenance facilities and field engineering services. This position requires effective planning and execution of departmental operations, focusing on professional activities within a specific technical area.

The role allows for the adaptation of procedures and practices as long as the outcomes align with established standards of quality, volume, and timeliness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct all on-site life extension, repair, and inspection services at customer locations.
  • Perform onsite machining, non-destructive testing (NDT), blade repairs, winding, critical welding, and generator diagnostics.
  • Oversee direct personnel management, including staffing and performance development.
  • Utilize extensive knowledge in a technical field along with analytical skills to implement policies and strategies effectively.
  • Possess awareness of best practices and understand how your area of expertise integrates with other functions; recognize competitive factors that distinguish the company in the market.
  • Exercise judgment and propose alternative solutions to complex manufacturing processes that involve technical variety and interdependent production cycles.
  • Leverage multiple internal and limited external resources to make informed decisions.
  • Serve as a mentor for less experienced colleagues and may lead small-scale projects with minimal risks and resource needs.
  • Facilitate discussions and help team members reach consensus on technical topics.
  • Communicate performance expectations clearly and manage sensitive issues as they arise.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
  • At least 3 years of advanced experience in service and on-site operations.

Preferred Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proven capability to analyze and resolve technical challenges.
  • Strong organizational skills for documenting, planning, marketing, and executing programs.
  • Established skills in project management.
