Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Sales Associate/Material Handler to join our retail team at our Main San Diego (Otay Mesa) Thrift Store. As a Sales Associate/Material Handler, you will be responsible for ensuring all customers and donors needs are met, stocking merchandise, maintaining the store and donation area, and performing other duties as assigned by management.
Key Responsibilities- Provide excellent customer service and greet customers in a friendly and courteous manner
- Stock merchandise and maintain the sales floor to ensure a visually appealing and organized store
- Assist in the maintenance of the store and donation area, including cleaning and organization
- Operate the point of sale system and handle cash transactions accurately
- Receive, unload, and stock incoming inventory items
- Inspect products for defects and damages
- Assist donors with the removal of donated items from their vehicles and provide receipts
- Separate and sort donated materials into the proper containers
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred
- Ability to accurately handle point of sale operations and cash transactions
- Must pass a background check, which will include a criminal history and sex offender registry check
- Ability to communicate effectively with management, fellow store employees, customers, and donors
- Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis
- Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, clothing carts, merchandise carts, rolling clothing racks, fixtures, furniture dollies, platform trucks and carts, hand trucks and miscellaneous carts
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
- Ability to perform various repetitive motion tasks
Our stores operate 7 days per week. Work schedules are determined by management and employees must be flexible to ensure adequate store coverage. Part-time associates may be scheduled to work any part-time shift, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
