Responsibilities:
As a Clinical Laboratory Technician, you will play a vital role in our Clinical Laboratory Services team. Your primary responsibilities will include:
  • Participating actively in the daily operations of the laboratory.
  • Performing clerical tasks related to clinical lab functions, including patient registration, communication, filing, sorting, and data entry.
  • Utilizing laboratory computer systems to process specimens accurately.
  • Verifying patient eligibility, benefits, and authorization requirements as necessary.
  • Executing blood collection procedures, ensuring proper labeling and transportation of samples to the laboratory.
  • Utilizing patient identification protocols to guarantee accuracy in patient information.
  • Prioritizing and managing STAT, TIMED, and ROUTINE draws to meet turnaround times.
  • Responding promptly to laboratory requests and pages, adhering to established policies.
  • Complying with OSHA and CAP standards in all job functions.
  • Maintaining adequate stock levels of supplies in the work area.

Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:
  • A minimum of six (6) months of recent experience in a hospital setting as a Clinical Technician or Phlebotomist.
  • A High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a State-approved Phlebotomy Training Program.
  • A valid Phlebotomy License.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
  • Strong communication abilities.
  • Effective teamwork skills.
  • Basic knowledge of laboratory testing procedures and medical terminology.

This position is represented by SEIU and is governed by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
