POSITION SUMMARY

The Corporate Litigation Attorney will serve as the legal representative for various healthcare organizations managed by American Advanced Management. This role demands a high level of confidence and expertise in managing all aspects of litigation, from initial case intake through pleadings, discovery, and trial preparations. While the position is primarily focused on litigation, it may also encompass some corporate and transactional responsibilities.

REPORTING STRUCTURE

This role reports directly to senior corporate counsel and executive management. The position may offer remote work opportunities and may require occasional travel.

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must possess a valid California State Bar license and have a minimum of 1-5 years of relevant litigation experience. Candidates should be admitted, or eligible for admission, to all California Courts. Preferred qualifications include experience in trial, arbitration, mediation, labor law, administrative law, healthcare collections, malpractice, elder abuse, and negligence. A strong work ethic and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively are essential.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • General Responsibilities:
    • Defend against employment litigation cases, including wrongful termination, harassment, discrimination, and wage disputes. A solid understanding of employment laws is necessary.
    • Conduct internal investigations related to ongoing litigation, demand letters, and HR complaints.
    • Manage business and commercial litigation matters, such as disputes with customers or vendors, primarily focusing on defense with some prosecution.
    • Work independently, transitioning from consultations with non-legal staff to conducting research and preparing legal documents.
    • Respond to demand letters and complaints, conducting necessary investigations and filing appropriate pleadings.
    • Prepare legal correspondence and documentation.
    • Utilize computer software for filing, typing, and basic word processing and spreadsheet tasks.
    • Communicate effectively with employees and management.
    • Coordinate special projects as assigned.
    • Analyze incoming memos, submissions, and reports to determine their significance and plan appropriate responses.
    • File and retrieve corporate documents, records, and reports.
    • Compile data and prepare materials for review by executives, committees, and Boards of Directors.
    • Conduct interviews with employees and management.
    • Summarize depositions, testimonies, and interrogations.
    • Attend relevant meetings and events.
    • Draft legal documents, including contracts.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
