Job Summary

The Instructional Librarian will develop, promote, and deliver effective and innovative instructional services to students, faculty, and the BCCC community. This role will collaborate with faculty to integrate information literacy into curriculum, design and conduct reference and instructional activities, and promote the use of the library's online assets.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and Promote Instructional Services: Develop and promote effective and innovative instructional services to students, faculty, and the BCCC community.
  • Collaborate with Faculty: Collaborate with faculty to integrate information literacy into curriculum and develop instructional materials.
  • Design and Conduct Reference and Instructional Activities: Design and conduct reference and instructional activities for the Library, including workshops, classes, and one-on-one sessions.
  • Promote Library Resources: Promote the use of the library's online assets, including LibGuides, databases, e-books, and LibAnswers.
  • Develop and Maintain LibGuides: Develop and maintain LibGuides, a platform for providing online research guides and tutorials.
  • Promote Information Literacy Initiatives: Promote information literacy initiatives through presentations to students and faculty.
  • Analyze and Adjust Services: Analyze and adjust reference and instructional activities to better meet the needs of the students.
  • Compile and Analyze Statistics: Compile, analyze, and report statistics for the reference and instructional program.
  • Participate in Collection Development: Participate in the collection development process and recommend materials and resources for the Library.
  • Participate on College Committees: Participate on College and departmental committees, as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • MLS from an ALA-Accredited Institution: Master of Library Science degree from an American Library Association (ALA)-accredited institution.
  • Professional Experience: 3 or more years of professional Instructional Librarian experience.
  • Knowledge of Library Technologies: Knowledge of LibGuides, LibAnswers, Basic HTML, digital media, and Web 2.0 technologies.
  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems: Knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS), currently Canvas.
  • Experience in Library Instruction: Experience in planning and providing library instruction.
  • Knowledge of Information Literacy: Knowledge of best practices in information literacy efforts and programs.
  • Effective Communication and Presentation Skills: Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to work proactively with faculty and commitment to team.
