Surgical Technologist II

Position Overview:
The Surgical Technologist II plays a crucial role in the operating room by establishing a sterile environment and preparing necessary supplies for surgical procedures, utilizing extensive knowledge of surgical instruments and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
This position involves passing instruments to surgeons during operations and executing count procedures in accordance with established policies throughout surgical cases.

Mentorship Role:
The Surgical Technologist II acts as a mentor and resource for less experienced colleagues, providing guidance and support while also being available for on-call duties for both routine and complex surgical cases after completing the orientation period.

Transitional Duties:
This role includes learning and fulfilling various assignments and responsibilities during the transitional duty phase.

Incentives:

Licensure and Certification Requirements:
Must be registered with the State Board of Medicine and possess one of the following certifications: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST), Tech in Surgery-Certified (TS-C), or Certified Operating Room or Surgical Technician (CORST).

Continued Employment Requirements:
Registration with the Virginia State Board of Medicine and current certifications in AHA, BLS, HCP, CST, TS-C, or CORST are mandatory.

Experience Requirements:
Minimum of 6 months of experience in a Surgical Technologist role or a related scrub technician position is required. Preferred candidates will have at least 2 years of experience in similar roles.

Educational Background:
A High School Diploma or equivalent is required, along with graduation from a Surgical Technology Program, military training program, or Licensed Practical Nursing Program. Preference will be given to candidates who have graduated from an accredited Surgical Technology Program.

Work Schedule:
Various shifts available including 3x12, 4x10, 5x8, and 8-hour shifts. Schedules may include day, evening, night, and rotating shifts, with weekends as needed.
