Position Overview:
The Surgical Technologist II plays a crucial role in the operating room by establishing a sterile environment and preparing necessary surgical instruments and supplies based on a comprehensive understanding of the procedures involved.

Key Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for passing instruments to surgeons during operations and ensuring adherence to count procedures as per established protocols throughout surgical cases.

Mentorship Role:
The Surgical Technologist II also serves as a mentor and resource for less experienced surgical technologists, providing guidance and support. Additionally, this role includes being on-call for both routine and high-acuity surgical cases following the completion of the orientation period.

Transitional Duties:
During the transitional duty period, the individual will learn, execute, and fulfill various assignments and responsibilities as designated.

Incentives:
Eligible candidates may receive a sign-on incentive, subject to terms and conditions.

Licensure and Certification Requirements:
Must be registered with the State Board of Medicine and possess certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST), Tech in Surgery-Certified (TS-C), or Certified Operating Room/Surgical Technician (CORST).

Ongoing Certification:
Continued employment requires registration with the Virginia State Board of Medicine and current certifications in AHA, BLS, HCP, CST, TS-C, or CORST.

Experience Requirements:
Minimum of 6 months of experience in a surgical technologist role or a related scrub technician position is required. Preferred candidates will have at least 2 years of experience in a similar capacity.

Educational Background:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with graduation from a Surgical Technology Program, military training program, or Licensed Practical Nursing Program. Preference will be given to candidates who have graduated from an accredited Surgical Technology Program.
