Key Responsibilities:
This position aligns with our strategic goals focused on Student Achievement, Safety, Resource Management, and Community Engagement. We believe these priorities are crucial to realizing Peoria Unified's mission: Every Student, Every Day, Prepared to Shape Tomorrow.
Student Achievement – Safely transport students along designated routes to and from school and events. Provide backup support for dispatch operations as needed. Ensure proper student behavior while on the bus. Safety – Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety. Monitor fluid levels and vehicle condition before, during, and after each route. Verify the functionality of wheelchair lifts and securement devices. Assist students in boarding and securing them safely in their seats. Maintain accurate logs of mileage and hours worked. Prepare maintenance requests and inspect buses post-repair to confirm operational integrity. Follow established protocols for emergencies and breakdowns. Take all necessary precautions to safeguard students, equipment, and facilities. Community Engagement – Promote a culture that strengthens partnerships with parents and community members. Build positive relationships with students, educators, parents, and community stakeholders. Resource Management – Adhere to effective policies and practices regarding the stewardship of District resources. Maintain accurate records as required by law and District policy. Provide insights and feedback related to bus routes, including suggestions for adjustments or evaluations. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications: Candidates must successfully complete on-site training for school bus operation. Applicants must be at least 21 years old.

Additional Requirements: Must possess or obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card. Must pass a background check. Must acquire and maintain a valid Arizona CDL, 'Class B' driver license with passenger endorsement. May encounter hazardous conditions, including machinery, weather elements, and potential health risks. Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 20 pounds. Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds and pass the DPS Physical Performance Test. May need to work outside standard hours. May require travel for work-related tasks.
