Position Summary:

We are currently seeking a skilled Cost Manager / Estimator to join our team, focusing on a major semiconductor manufacturing client. This role will be instrumental in overseeing the financial aspects of large-scale construction initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the estimation and negotiation of change orders throughout the construction process.
  • Develop comprehensive cost plans and provide detailed cost analysis at various project stages.
  • Collaborate with design teams and contractors to create accurate cost estimates.
  • Ensure data accuracy by reconciling changes with the general contractor.
  • Engage with project stakeholders to gather necessary information for cost updates.
  • Prepare detailed feedback on contractor submissions, including executive summaries.
  • Coordinate cost information from various sources for discussions with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Advise on engineering priorities based on financial implications.
  • Proactively address scheduling challenges with minimal oversight.
  • Conduct cost checks and valuations for larger projects, ensuring timely and precise processes.
  • Participate in managing post-contract cost variances and change control.
  • Oversee cost impact assessments and maintain commitment tracking logs.
  • Facilitate funding presentations and coordinate value engineering sessions with stakeholders.
Pre-Contract Duties:
  • Generate cost plans and estimates during the design phase, providing updates at key milestones.
  • Offer commercial insights during design evaluations and value engineering discussions.
  • Review and negotiate contractor pricing to ensure fair contract terms.
Post-Contract Duties:
  • Execute quantity surveying, cost control, and change management throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure effective management of post-contract cost variances and change control processes.
  • Conduct thorough cost auditing and valuation, establishing a robust validation process.
  • Prepare monthly cost reports for client presentations.
  • Negotiate and finalize accounts promptly.
  • Compile as-built cost estimates for benchmarking purposes.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in construction cost management.
  • Background in large-scale manufacturing, semiconductor, or high-tech construction projects.
  • Relevant degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, or engineering.
  • RICS accreditation is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Experience leading cost management on medium to large construction projects of varying complexity.
  • Strong understanding of construction industry practices, including procurement routes and value management.
