Optometrist - Vision Care Specialist

As a skilled Optometrist, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality vision care services to our members. Your expertise will be essential in conducting visual examinations, detecting and diagnosing abnormal visual and ocular conditions, and providing treatment within the scope of optometric licensure.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct thorough visual examinations, including those to identify the presence of pathology.
- Detect and diagnose abnormal visual, ocular, and/or systemic conditions.
- Provide complete and high-quality optometric/vision care services to members.
- Uphold Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures, principles of responsibilities, and applicable state, federal, and local laws.
- Provide treatment of the visual system within the scope of optometric licensure, including writing prescriptions for ophthalmic spectacles, contact lenses, orthoptics, and non-optical aids.
- Perform additional specialized testing and therapy, such as contact lens examinations, visual fields (perimetry), tonometry, orthoptics, low vision evaluation, fluorescein angiography, and ocular photography.
- Maintain compliance with all current organizational, state, and federal regulations pertaining to Optometry.
- Report and coordinate with Coordinating Optometrists to ensure member satisfaction and promote financial viability of the Permanente Vision Services Program.
- Work effectively as a team member with other areas of Vision Services, including Optical Lab and Optical Dispensing.
- Promote member satisfaction by ensuring the provision of a high level of quality of service and care.
- Establish and maintain courteous and cooperative relations with the public, patients, and other personnel.
- Graduate of a school or college of Optometry accredited by the California State Board of Optometry.
- Optometrist License (California).
- National Provider Identifier.
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge of and apply the principles, theories, practices, and techniques of optometric practice, including anatomy, physiology, pathology, and mechanics of the human eye, visual processes, and detailed knowledge of ocular pharmacology and therapeutics.
- Ability to work evenings and Saturdays.
- May rotate to other MOBs within the Medical Center Service Area.
