The NJ4S Hub aims to deliver comprehensive support through a centralized system that employs effective prevention methodologies to assist students and their families. This program will enhance existing local and state services, ensuring better coordination and minimizing redundancy. The Hub will offer a diverse array of evidence-based prevention and intervention strategies tailored for districts with significant needs. It will provide universal support to all students while offering more intensive assistance to those in higher-need educational settings.
Ideal candidates for the Prevention Specialist role will possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in a Human Services-related discipline is essential. Candidates lacking the requisite education may substitute relevant experience on a year-for-year basis, with thirty (30) semester hours equating to one (1) year of experience.
- Proven experience in delivering prevention-oriented programs, with a minimum of three (3) years in a non-profit social service context, focusing on community-based services, prevention initiatives, or related human services.
- Expertise in applying evidence-based practice models and training materials in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including data entry, electronic medical records, and Microsoft Office.
- Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative spirit.
- Capacity to manage multiple tasks efficiently and accurately.
Reporting to the Supervising Prevention Consultant, the responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with consultants, educational institutions, and community service organizations to facilitate training sessions, workshops, webinars, and assemblies.
- Maintaining program documentation and assisting in data collection, reporting, and evaluation processes aimed at continuous quality improvement.
- Implementing evidence-based prevention services and curricula with fidelity for students, educators, and families.
- Training students and school staff to recognize mental health concerns and address risk factors affecting student well-being.
- Engaging in all relevant training and meetings related to the NJ4S initiative, while pursuing ongoing professional development in prevention science and community development.
- Building relationships with community partners and emergency mental health service providers.
- Enhancing collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
- Participating in supervision and staff meetings to foster professional growth and a positive work environment.
- Working in conjunction with other prevention leaders and organizations within the community.
- Meeting expected productivity levels in direct service provision.
- Performing additional duties as assigned by the Supervising Prevention Consultant.
