POSITION TITLE: Lead Mechanic - Service Operations

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt | REPORTS TO: Assistant Service Manager

Overview:

In this role, you will support the Assistant Service Manager in orchestrating the changeover processes for tank trucks within the service division.

Supervisory Role:

This position does not include supervisory duties.

Key Responsibilities:

- Install fluid distribution systems on lubrication vans, petroleum tank trucks, and trailers.

- Fabricate and modify components of fluid distribution systems, involving cutting, bending, welding, and assembling metal and aluminum materials.

- Communicate effectively with the Assistant Manager regarding any obstacles that may hinder production timelines, potentially affecting customer satisfaction.

- Review job orders to ascertain tasks required per client specifications.

- Assemble both pre-made and custom components to construct fluid distribution systems.

- Repair fluid distribution systems by replacing defective parts.

Essential Competencies:

- Ensure compliance with company safety standards, OSHA regulations, R-Stamp, and DOT policies by all team members.

- Adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) that impact production.

- Guarantee quality assurance in welding and fabrication processes.

Qualifications:

- Proven experience in building or repairing diesel, gas, or hydraulic machinery using hand, electric, and pneumatic tools.

- Ability to work independently in tank truck unloading assembly, chassis preparation, or product testing.

- Proficient in fabrication, welding, and understanding electrical, mechanical, or pneumatic systems.

- ASME welding certification is required.

- Capable of interpreting and improving blueprints/schematics.

- Skilled in troubleshooting and resolving both simple and complex issues.

- Competent in reading work orders and identifying potential part or assembly issues.

- Responsible for maintaining bay efficiency and meeting delivery timelines.

- Conduct in-process quality assessments.

- Manage bay hours and accurately record them in the designated system.

Physical Requirements:

This position necessitates the ability to meet the Department of Labor's grade 4 heavy work physical capacity profile. This includes exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly.

Visual requirements include clarity of vision at distances greater than 20 inches and less than 20 feet without correction, as well as color vision, depth perception, and a broad field of vision.

Must be capable of performing various physical activities such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Safety Compliance:

Adhere to U.S. Department of Transportation (D.O.T) regulations concerning petroleum tanks, trailers, and box vans, along with the guidelines outlined in Seneca Tank's Safety Manual.
