About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Estimator I - Takeoff Specialist to join our team at Bernhard. As a key member of our estimating department, you will be responsible for preparing and coordinating the preparation of full estimates on large MEP commercial construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Estimate Preparation: Prepare and/or coordinate the preparation of full estimates on large MEP commercial construction projects as required by client's documents and provide complete conceptual and total bid price.
  • Document Review: Review and evaluate construction documents and understand the scope of work to bid.
  • Takeoff Execution: Execute take-offs of construction documents and review material takeoff for completeness and accuracy.
  • Material Evaluation: Execute material/labor evaluations for specialty materials and solicit bids from subcontractors and vendors.
  • Resource Management: Develop and maintain resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, government requirements, etc.
Requirements
  • 0 to 3 years of related experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as drawings, specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Experience with estimating techniques and cost control.
  • Ability to perform detailed labor and material take-offs.
  • Teamwork.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Bluebeam.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Versed in the industry and the Company's competitors.
  • Ability to multitask and perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Estimation Viewpoint and/or Trimble Autobid software.
Travel and Work Environment
  • 10-15% of time will be spent traveling to job site/office location.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
