Job Summary

This position provides critical support to the dental team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing patients for dental procedures, maintaining a clean and organized work environment, and assisting the dentist with various tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean and sterilize dental equipment and instruments according to infection control standards
  • Prepare dental work areas for procedures, including setting up instruments and materials
  • Assist the dentist with chair-side procedures, passing and receiving instruments, and providing tissue retraction
  • Review health history with patients and explain post-treatment instructions
  • Make dental radiographs as prescribed by the dentist and evaluate their diagnostic acceptability
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including preparing supplies and equipment for village travel
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Six months of previous dental assistant experience or completion of a formal dental assistant program
  • CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years of experience as a dental assistant
Working Conditions

The work is generally sedentary, requiring routine walking, standing, and carrying of items weighing less than 25 lbs. The majority of work is performed in a clinical office setting with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities, and abilities.

Copper River Native Association is a smoke-free and tobacco-free campus. May require local travel between compact services of CRNA, which may involve exposure to extreme weather conditions.
