Job Title: Heavy Equipment Mechanic II

Job Summary

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic II is responsible for ensuring the safety and efficiency of our fleet by performing routine maintenance, repairs, and overhauls on heavy vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect heavy vehicles for safety and perform necessary checks and adjustments
  • Service, change, and replace oils, lubricate chassis, pack bearings, and check differential levels
  • Adjust, repair, or replace valves, carburetors, timing, linkages, clutch, fuel injector systems, hydraulic systems, compressors, tracks, air brake systems, and emission systems
  • Remove and replace exhaust systems, shocks, stabilizers, brake shoes, bushings, gaskets, spark plugs, condensers, cables, wires, bulbs, and other devices
  • Test vehicles using instruments, road tests, and mechanical equipment test devices
  • Overhaul brake systems, hydraulic systems, engines, transmissions, front-ends, rear-ends, and other major repairs
  • Service or repair heaters, make minor electrical repairs, and repair other systems on heavy equipment
Requirements
  • High school degree or GED and minimum of two (2) years' experience in heavy equipment or related vehicle repair
  • Valid Georgia Motor Vehicle Operator's License or obtain one within six months of hire
  • Must be able to furnish own tools
  • Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License with no air brake restrictions or obtain one within six months of hire
  • Meet the requirements of one of the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification programs, including renewal requirements
