Nuclear Quality Supervisor Job Description

Mueller Water Products, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Quality Supervisor to join our team in Kimball, TN. As a Nuclear Quality Supervisor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and safety of our products and services.

Job Summary:

The Nuclear Quality Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the Nuclear Quality Program, ensuring compliance with NQA-1, NCA-4000, 10 CFR Part 50 Appendix B, and 10 CFR Part 21. This includes coordinating the activities of Nuclear Product Inspectors, facilitating program audits, and ensuring code compliance with each new code year release.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Own and maintain the Nuclear NQA-1/NCA-4000 Quality Management System
  • Ensure that all valves, appurtenances, and spare parts meet ASME Code and owner design specifications
  • Facilitate program audits by ASME, NUPIC, and NRC audit teams
  • Ensure code compliance with each new code year release
  • 10-CFR-Part 21 Evaluations and Reporting to the NRC and Owners
  • Maintain and ensure indoctrination & training for all Nuclear Department personnel
  • Ensure that all non-conformances and root cause/counter measures are addressed
  • Approval of all Nuclear Quality documents/procedures
  • Maintain the Commercial Grade Item Dedication for material to be made basic components
  • Maintain the security of parts/materials for valves, appurtenances, and spare parts
  • Ensure all M&TE is in proper working order and in calibration
  • Plans and directs the supervision of the employees and activities of all Nuclear Quality Department personnel
  • Confers with other members of management team, members of production supervisory team, and general workforce
  • Ensures implementation of agreed corrective and preventive actions
  • Prepares quality reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing data
  • Serves as the liaison between the company and customers for resolution of quality problems
  • Tracks and performs supplier and internal audits as well as auditor qualifications
  • Manages the handling of customer complaints and ensures all appropriate corrective actions are taken
Requirements:
  • Experience with NQA-1 Nuclear Quality Program to include knowledge of the appropriate ASME Code sections, CFR sections as well as applicable industry standards
  • Demonstrated success in leading teams to meet challenging goals
  • Experience with standards and procedures required to achieve and maintain industry quality certifications
  • Knowledge of metrology and test methods
  • Experience with external customer and supplier relationships required
  • Strong leadership, communications, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to organize, manage and control workflow and ability to meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Direct experience in valves, controls, or similar applicable industrial products
  • Experience using JD Edward E1 ERP system a major
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to remain in stationary position or standing position for prolonged periods and alternate between
  • Ability to repeat gross or fine manipulation that may include the use of wrists, hands, and/or fingers
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including, but not limited to, safety glasses, steel-toed or metatarsal-guarded shoes, and/or ear plugs, while working in an industrial and/or manufacturing environment
  • Ability to constantly communicate with others to exchange information in person, via phone, or via use of computer
  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects up to 25 pounds in weight in all directions
  • Ability to occasionally reach overhead or at or below shoulder level
  • Ability to occasionally stoop, crouch, or kneel
