POSITION OVERVIEW

The Transportation Operations Manager oversees all logistics activities for Riddell, ensuring efficient operations within the organization. The manager serves as a resource for inquiries related to logistics from various departments, including sales and customer service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (additional tasks may be assigned)

  • Supervise the Operations Coordinator and Logistics Coordinator at the North Ridgeville facility.
  • Provide daily logistical support for locations lacking on-site transportation management, including the arrangement of domestic and international shipments to ensure optimal service at competitive rates.
  • Address shipping concerns raised by sales representatives.
  • Organize and oversee truckload shipments for external facilities.
  • Propose and assist in implementing process modifications to enhance transportation cost efficiency.
  • Resolve issues related to the Transportation Management System (TMS).
  • Oversee freight invoice approvals and ensure accurate cost coding.
  • Generate daily and weekly reports to assess real-time transportation data and optimize expenditures.
  • Coordinate daily delivery operations and schedules in collaboration with manufacturing plants.
  • Manage weekly laundry collection and delivery logistics.
  • Assist in the Request for Proposal (RFP) processes for various transportation modes and brokerage services.
  • Provide quotes and coordinate all international air freight shipments.
  • Responsibilities include training team members, planning, assigning, and directing tasks, evaluating performance, recognizing and addressing issues, and resolving conflicts.

REQUIREMENTS

A relevant college degree and a minimum of three years of experience in the transportation sector are required.

  • Proficient in MS Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience with TMS systems and SAP is preferred.

  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Capability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across multiple departments.
