We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Peer Support Specialist to join our team at Helio Health. As a Peer Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals in their recovery journey, helping them to regain independence and sustain their recovery.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with individuals to develop personalized recovery plans that meet their unique needs and goals.
- Link patients to community-based social and support services, promoting a seamless transition from treatment to community living.
- Teach individuals and family members coping skills and strategies to manage mental health and substance use challenges.
- Support the application process for benefits and provide non-clinical crisis support after periods of hospitalization or incarceration.
- Accompany individuals to court appearances and medical appointments, providing emotional support and advocacy.
- Engage individuals with formal recovery support services, such as self-help groups and peer support groups.
- Educate individuals and family members on various modes of recovery, including wellness recovery action plans and self-help strategies.
- High School Graduate or Equivalency required.
- Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) Certification required within six (6) months of hire and maintain CRPA certification throughout employment.
- One year of Health or Human Service experience preferred.
- An individual does not need to be in recovery themselves but must be able to confer empathy through lived experiences such as family and/or close friends.
- Must have a valid NYS Driver's License.
