Job Summary

The Sales Associate position at Great Lakes Ace Hardware is a part-time opportunity that requires a strong commitment to customer service and sales generation. The ideal candidate will be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, and maintain a high level of energy and enthusiasm throughout their shift.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain outstanding customer service by greeting all customers, answering questions, and assisting with locating merchandise.
  • Generate sales by processing transactions, operating cash registers, and engaging customers through suggestive selling.
  • Merchandise product by displaying and maintaining stock on shelves, counters, and tables, and building displays to attract customers.
  • Replenish stock as necessary, receive and unpack merchandise, and complete all company and departmental paperwork accurately.
  • Maintain on-hand integrity through inventory adjustment reports and follow the nightly maintenance checklist to ensure proper store recovery and cleanliness.
  • Stay up-to-date on new products and ad merchandise, and practice loss prevention techniques to minimize shoplifting losses.
  • Operate the store's point of sale system, including the RF Gun, and follow GLA policies and procedures for all transactions.
  • Assist customers in the service areas, including chain, rope, key, and glass cutting, screen repair, and knife sharpening.
Requirements
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, including safety rules and operating instructions.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds with assistance.
Work Environment

The Sales Associate will work in a fast-paced retail environment, with frequent interactions with customers and colleagues. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, and will be comfortable using technology, including the store's point of sale system and computer software.
