Job Summary
The Cobb County Public Library System is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Librarian III to join our team. As a key member of our library staff, you will be responsible for overseeing the operations of a branch library, supervising a team of librarians and support staff, and providing exceptional customer service to our patrons.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage a team of librarians and support staff, providing guidance and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality library services.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of a branch library, including managing budgets, supervising staff, and ensuring the maintenance of a safe and welcoming environment for patrons.
- Develop and implement library programs and services that meet the needs of our diverse community, including children's and adult services, literacy programs, and outreach services.
- Provide exceptional customer service to patrons, responding to their needs and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Collaborate with other library staff and departments to develop and implement library policies and procedures, and to ensure the effective delivery of library services.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in library services and technology, and make recommendations for the improvement of library services and operations.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Library Science from an American Library Association (ALA)-accredited program.
- Two years of experience as a librarian in a public library setting, with at least one year of supervisory experience.
- Current State of Georgia Public Librarian Certification.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a lead or supervisory role, with a proven track record of success in managing teams and achieving goals.
- Experience developing and implementing library programs and services, including literacy programs, outreach services, and community engagement initiatives.
- Knowledge of library technology and software, including integrated library systems, online public access catalogs, and digital media platforms.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of people, including children, adults, and seniors, and to adapt communication style to meet the needs of different audiences.
Working Conditions
The Librarian III will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with frequent interactions with patrons, staff, and community members. The position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment. The Librarian III will be required to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
