Librarian III Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Librarian III to join our team at the Cobb County Public Library System. As a key member of our library staff, you will be responsible for supervising and directing library operations, developing and implementing library programs and activities, and providing exceptional customer service to our patrons.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and direct library operations, including supervising staff, managing budgets, and coordinating programs and services.
- Develop and implement library programs and activities, including designing programming to targeted readership, maintaining records of program participation, and recommending allocation of financial, staffing, equipment, space, and bibliographic resources necessary to meet goals and objectives.
- Provide exceptional customer service to library patrons and the public, including providing assistance and information related to library programs, services, materials, facilities, equipment, fees, procedures, or other issues.
- Supervise the selection, retention, and general development of a library collection, including overseeing the selection of books, periodicals, and other materials for purchase, preparing and overseeing the preparation of order lists for purchase of library materials, and reviewing donated materials and determining which items to add to collection.
- Plan and provide outreach for the library system, including visiting schools, nonprofit organizations, summer camps, etc. to promote and implement library services and programs, providing information and education about library services and materials, and attending meetings of neighborhood organizations and various committees.
- Plan and coordinate the cataloguing and processing for the library system, including creating and modifying bibliographic database records according to established standards governing cataloging, formatting, subject headings, and Dewey Decimal classification, verifying machine-readable cataloging authority records, creating controlled vocabulary for subject and name access, and entering and loading bibliographic and authority database records into library computer systems.
- Perform related administrative duties, including monitoring budget for assigned area to ensure compliance with approved budgets, monitoring patron activities to ensure the safety, monitoring branch for needed maintenance or repairs, reviewing meeting space applications, compiling statistics, and preparing and submitting a variety of reports.
- Master's Degree in Library Science from a school that is accredited by the American Library Association.
- Two (2) years of librarian experience in library operations and one (1) year supervisory experience.
- Current State of GA Public Librarian Certification.
- Experience working in a lead or supervisory role.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to include nights and weekends.
