Position Overview

We invite you to consider a role as a Part-time Court Clerk I within the Yuma Municipal Court. This position is ideal for individuals who thrive in a collaborative environment focused on community service and relationship building.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Court Clerk I, you will be responsible for a variety of clerical and administrative tasks that support Court Operations and Compliance. Your duties will include:
  • Performing a range of technical and administrative tasks while providing excellent customer service and making informed decisions based on established policies and procedures.
  • Managing clerical functions for the Municipal Court, including document processing, data entry, and customer service at the public counter.
  • Ensuring compliance with security protocols and timely completion of reports and paperwork.
  • Accepting and filing court documents, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Coordinating court activities and assisting in the flow of information between judges and court staff.
  • Responding to inquiries regarding court procedures and providing operational support.
  • Handling confidential data and financial transactions accurately.
  • Providing guidance on confidentiality requirements related to court records.
  • Cross-training in various court functions and procedures.
  • Promoting a positive relationship between the City and the public through courteous interactions.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information and performing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:
  • A High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • At least one year of clerical and computer experience, preferably in a legal or justice-related environment.
  • Proficiency in typing at least 33 words per minute.
Knowledge and Skills:

Successful candidates will demonstrate knowledge of:
  • City policies and procedures.
  • Federal regulations and State of Arizona statutes governing municipal courts.
  • Confidential records management principles.
  • Accounting and bookkeeping practices.
  • Safe work practices in court environments.
Licensing Requirements:

A valid Arizona State Driver's License is required. Additionally, candidates must be willing to complete continuing training accreditation within six months of hire.

Work Environment:

This position involves working in a standard office environment, including courtrooms and related facilities. Physical demands may include bending, reaching, and lifting objects as necessary.
